Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake
Who says a milkshake has to be bad for you?
With a jam-packed week of work, school and tight schedules, it is fast becoming our family tradition to do as little as possible on Saturday mornings, sometimes staying in our pjs until lunch time! A casual breakfast of tea and cookies or leftover pizza is usually on the menu. So when the boys asked for milkshakes I thought hey, why not!
I got straight into the kitchen and being the sneaky mom I am, I created one that not only tastes like cafe-style milkshake, but one that is full of goodness!
We cannot get enough of this tasty, refreshing milkshake … and no, it doesn’t taste ‘green’!
Let’s just say that there was a lot of slurping going on in the kitchen this morning.
PS: these are also super yummy as ice-lollies!
Ingredients
1 cup fresh baby spinach
¼ cup fresh mint (tightly packed)
2-3 frozen bananas
2 fresh dates, pitted
1 cup milk (I use Almond Milk)
4 ice cubes
Dark chocolate chips
Method
Combine all the ingredients in a blender, except for the choc chips, and blend until smooth.
If too thick add a bit more milk, or filtered water, and blend again.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Serving Suggestions
Pour into a glass jar, sprinkle chocolate chips on top with a sprig of mint, and serve.
Or pour into ice-lolly moulds and freeze overnight.
