Banana & Peanut Butter Smoothie
It must be an age thing, but up until now my 7 year old would pull up his nose to anything green. Understandably. It’s an acquired taste, right? Lately, his love for very green basil pesto (which was a surprise) led me to attempt a green smoothie for breakfast. Result? Huge success!
Since trying this easy-to-make smoothie, it has become our family’s favourite. I really do have to start growing my own spinach to keep up with the demand.
2 frozen bananas
1 cup of coconut milk (or your favourite milk alternative)
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
2 large handfuls of spinach ( approx 50g)
1 tablespoon of hemp powder or shelled hemp seeds
1 tablespoon Rawlicious Greenshake (optional)
Peel, chop and freeze bananas for at least 2 hrs or overnight.
Blend frozen bananas with the rest of the ingredients until smooth.
If too thick add fridge cold water until it reaches the right consistency.
Optional: add ice and blend to make it colder (and go further).
The secret to a creamy smoothie are frozen bananas.
Tip: when you see a special on over-ripe bananas at your local store, buy heaps. Peel, chop up and freeze.
