Chocolate Orange Truffles

I’m honestly in love! Dark chocolate and orange are a match made in heaven.

The funny thing is when I was growing up chocolate-orange was my least favourite flavour, but over the years I definitely acquired the taste for it and am now a fan! With the change in temperature, and winter creeping in, my body must naturally be craving a lil vitamin C, as recipes with oranges are grabbing my attention.

These dark chocolate orange truffles are simply delicious and decadent.

Ingredients

200g of medjool dates *

zest of 1 orange

small squeeze of orange juice

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

3 tablespoons of raw cacao powder

(plus more for rolling the balls in)

Pinch of salt

Method

Simply pit the dates and blend all the ingredients together in a food processor until totally smooth – make sure you only use a small squeeze of orange juice otherwise the mixture will be too wet!

Scoop a teaspoonful of the mixture into your hands and roll it into a ball, then roll the ball in cacao powder.

Repeat until you have used all the mixture.

Place the balls in the fridge for a few hours to firm up.

Top Tip – When rolling the balls I like to rub a little coconut oil into my hands to stop the truffle mixture sticking too much.

Notes

* If you can’t get medjool dates, you can soak dried dates in hot water until soft.
