Lemon Water

Want to jump-start your body in the morning? Lemon in warm water is a great way to start your day!

Why lemons?

Abundance of Vitamin C! (we all know we need that)

Alkalizes your body (opposite of acidity! And I thought they were acidic!)

Cleans your system

Relieves indigestion (no-one enjoys that bloated feeling!)

Flushes out toxins

Oooh, and I love this one, the antioxidants in lemon juice help to decrease wrinkles! Hah! Who would have thought!

Freshens your breath

Apply to scars and age spots to reduce their appearance (I am sooo going to try this!) and because it detoxes your blood, it will maintain your skin’s radiance

Lemon helps fight hunger cravings

Reduces anxiety and depression and gives you an energy boost!

If you want to start to change habits slowly like I have, why not start with this. Such a simple change can make such a difference to your health.

Here’s how

Slice half a lemon in the morning and place in a teacup or tall glass.

Squeeze some of the slices to make it more lemony and fill up the cup with warm water.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of honey if you prefer something sweet in the morning.

Sip and enjoy.

Tips

Do not brush your teeth for at least 30 minutes after drinking water with lemon to preserve your tooth enamel.

Use a straw, which will bring the acidic liquid more toward the back of your mouth away from your teeth.

When you have finished your morning drink, leave your cup of lemon pieces next to the kettle or tap in the kitchen and refill with water whenever you are in the kitchen.

Not only am I having my quota of water for the day, I am also getting a boost of vitamin C and other goodies from the lemon. I have been doing this for 2 weeks and can definitely feel the difference in my skin.

Rooibos Iced Tea

Rooibos Iced Tea

Afternoon tea anyone? To most folk, afternoon tea is a cup of hot Earl Grey tea and scones topped with lashings of jam and clotted cream. In all honesty I do love an indulgent afternoon tea, but with temperatures reaching 30 degrees, it is an ice-cold thirst-quenching...

Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake

Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake

Who says a milkshake has to be bad for you? With a jam-packed week of work, school and tight schedules, it is fast becoming our family tradition to do as little as possible on Saturday mornings, sometimes staying in our pjs until lunch time! A casual breakfast of tea...

Almond Milk

Almond Milk

I LOVE milk! I can't do without it. When I heard I needed to cut out dairy from my diet I settled for store-bought rice milk, but it is sooo expensive! My sister-in-law recommended I try almond milk as an alternative. So I gave it a try and I'm hooked! Working out...
